Built in 1885 as the Northern Michigan Asylum, Traverse City State Hospital was remodeled after 2000. The hospital was considered to be a place of beauty where patients were treated with respect and no straitjackets were allowed until its closing in 1989. According to witnesses, lights would turn on even though the electricity is disconnected. Ghosts of children are said to roam the halls, and screams and voices echo within the rooms. Some even claim the ghost of a priest remains who killed himself in the chapel, and a demon roams the basement area.
"There is nothing paranormal in the universe except our limited understanding of nature... and what we think we know here on earth today is only a tiny drop in the vast ocean of knowledge... but in the not so distant past... people admired those things that could not be explained... and called them miracles!"
