Along the New River lies the Stranahan House, Ft. Lauderdale's first post office, trading post, general store, and bank. Frank Stranahan was a thriving businessman until Florida’s land boom collapse in 1926. Frank suffered extreme economic losses worsened by two devastating hurricanes. Adding to Frank’s distress was news of his ill health and the knowledge that friends who invested with him were financially ruined as well. On May 22, 1929, deeply depressed Frank committed suicide by drowning himself in the river in front of his home.

Southeast FloridaGhost Hunters
"There is nothing paranormal in the universe except our limited understanding of nature... and what we think we know here on earth today is only a tiny drop in the vast ocean of knowledge... but in the not so distant past... people admired those things that could not be explained... and called them miracles!"
